Figments&Glimpses is the outlet for one of the most important things in my life - art.
Strip away every outside influence that defines me in some way and one of the things that remains is art and the need to create it.

The idea of putting myself out there in the big wide world to be viewed and judged by others was very intimidating (effing scary, in fact!!).  So Figments&Glimpses was really created as much as a hiding place as it was an outlet for creativity.
I wanted to create, but was unsure of the direction I wanted my work to take - painting vs photography - and also wasn't confident enough within myself to bare all with no warm up, like a plucked duck on a roasting tray - no feathers to conceal the pimply flesh of my soul.

I've noticed, though, that life gives you the tools you need when you need them. All you have to do is pick them up and use them.

I've found myself doing things I would never have dreamed of a year ago - from having a Facebook page just for my art to having paintings and photos for sale in an amazing shop - Baker-Williamson Studios (jewellery artists in every sense of the word) - to blogging. . . .BLOGGING?!

I'm planning an exhibition sometime next year and I've already had one Facebook art give-away competition which people actually entered!! (Thus proving to myself once and for all that contrary to what I have always believed - can't even give my art away -  actually I CAN give it away!)

I'm toying with the idea of setting myself a challenge such as an image a day or similar, but at the moment the 52-Week Illustration Challenge is enough. Maybe when it ends on December 31st this year.

And so the journey through the murky depths of social media and into the paint-pot continues . . . step by small step.

Next time, the introduction to the F&G Pit-Crew begins, starting with the Personal Trainer, as well as a quick look into what's happening in the studio.

Thanks for joining the adventure.

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners and First People of the land on which I stand, who are collectively known as the Southern Yamatji People. I pay my respects to the Elders past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of the Southern Yamatji People.
I would also like to specifically acknowledge the Naaguja and Wilunya people from amongst the collective group of Southern Yamatji People and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. The Naaguja and Wilunya Peoples are the Traditional Owners and First People of the place I have made my home and where I make my art.
