Cue the longest post title yet, and the shortest amount of words needed.
Thank You All So Very Much.
And now, the back story. :
I had a little studio clean out and I made the discovery that I had SO MUCH work just sitting around taking up space that I decided to have a sale. It happened to be coming up to Mother's Day in Australia, so I had a Mother's Day Sale. And I set a little goal.
I thought," I will be really happy if I sell one big painting." Just one.
Well I did sell one, and I did a major happy dance around the house and all the pit-crew looked at me like I was slightly crazy (seriously, you could see the dog thinking WTF??). I was so totally thrilled and grateful and proud of myself for having the courage to even put the work and the word out there, come what may. And then something pretty magic happened.
I sold another one. I had some viewings. I shared a picture of a windmill with a Aussie wide magazine on Facebook just because I was jumping those scary fences called "Self Promotion" and clearing them. And then more magic. That huge magazine with over
100 000 followers shared my picture. ( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ) (Thanks RM Williams Outback Mag!!) A few more paintings sold. And I have to say it feels pretty bloody good right now.
But the biggest magic that happened was the feedback from people. The most amazing feeling of encouragement. The feeling that what I'm doing is worthwhile and wanted. And maybe there's a bit more of a direction forming for me, and for Figments & Glimpses. A bit of the path in front of my feet might have been cast into light by this sale and I am pretty excited by the challenge. And that light has been cast by the pit-crew, and the beautiful people I've chatted with about my art in the past 3 weeks.
And I am so grateful.
Thank You. You are amazing. xx
PS. I've been checking out some merchandise and it turns out I really like it. The pit-crew put their orders in for cups when they arrived, and I was left with Sausage. One of the kiddo's went with pretty and the other went with the cute zombie cup. There's more on the way, so keep your eyes peeled for a product launch in the near future.
