On the eve of a new year, looking back - in the most casual and inconsistent way - it occurs to me that 2014 was my year of the online art challenge. The 52-Week Illustration Challenge, Inktober 2014. Facebook has a lot to answer for.

These challenges will be on again in 2015, and though I won't be taking part in the 52-Week Illo Challenge, and am yet to decide about Inktober, there is one challenge that I am going to try. And I am going to set myself up to conquer it - 365 Days of Art.

In other words a piece of art a day. Each will be created and uploaded to the Facebook group Sketch365 (maybe one every day, maybe 7 images once a week).

Practise is the name of the game - and I'll be taking a leaf out of my inspiring daughter's book. When she wants to conquer something, she does it over and over and over until it comes easy. (To the point that when learning to whistle she even did it in her sleep!).

It's a great way to get yourself in the habit of doing something - these groups are kind, supportive places where negativity isn't accepted as OK. I highly suggest you check them out . Anyone, at any level, can take part, or join just to watch what everyone else creates. Good luck, have fun, and above all - if you want to create something the most important thing is to have a go!! :)

Oh, and Happy New Year!!

If these aren't to your taste, why not look around for others or start your own ?

I acknowledge the Traditional Owners and First People of the land on which I stand, who are collectively known as the Southern Yamatji People. I pay my respects to the Elders past, present and future, for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of the Southern Yamatji People.
I would also like to specifically acknowledge the Naaguja and Wilunya people from amongst the collective group of Southern Yamatji People and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. The Naaguja and Wilunya Peoples are the Traditional Owners and First People of the place I have made my home and where I make my art.
